Default How to make a database ?

Hello all,

i would like to know how i could make a few database applications for the iphone

what im looking for is make a yellow pages kind of database of important numbers and addresses. would like to make a few versions of the same app
lite, full, pro

will start with the lite version then full then pro.

for the lite version it will only have a few categories and phone numbers and addresses

as for the pro it would have alot more phone numbers and addresses

and for the Pro i would like it to be like the Pro version but with the addition of integration with google maps ? ( as in when u click the contact u have the option to click on locate and it will open up google maps / gps to get to that location.

lite version should be easy to make ? all it is, it a database with phone numbers and the ability to click the contact number and have the iphone dial it.

Thanks !

someone please help

There are already a few guides out there on integrating with SQLite, which is a lightweight database that's fairly straightforward to use.

You can create the initial database from the command line with the command sqlite3 and then just use a CREATE TABLE command

I'd be cautious though that you aren't duplicating Address Book's features in Apple's eyes.

hey zbug,

I have written up a short tutorial on using SQLite to store data/retrieve data on the iPhone, you can check it out over at my blog dBlog - Your #1 source for Web/iPhone SDK Development information . If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
-Dean

Default Creating database driven apps for iPhone (Kumulos)

Guys,

we are starting a beta pilot programme for a platform that could help with this problem.

It's called Kumulos and it removes all the nitty-gritty, repetitive stuff associated with creating database driven apps for iPhone.

You can create hosted online databases for iPhone apps - without writing APIs, designing complex data structures or wasting time with servers and hosting.

We're looking for beta testers and would love to hear your thoughts on this,

Check it out here: Create database, push notifications, PHP, MySQL for iPhone, iPad, iOS, and Mac OSX

Thanks,

Michael
