Looking for a tutorial, book, or a point in the right direction that would help me understand entering values,calculating, and displaying results.

"Protagoras theorem" - man is the measure of all things...

Did you mean "pythagoras theorem"? - the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides
