App URL Redirect

As many of you may be aware, if you have the eBay app and you type "ebay:" into Safari, the URL redirects to the app and the app is opened. I was wondering how I could create this kind of a URL redirect to the app I am trying to make for use with Prowl (Growl for iPhone). I want to set Prowl to auto-open my app whenever a Prowl Push Notification is received. Prowl can only do it with apps that use these URL redirects. Does anyone know how to incorporate this into an app?

You can't register your URL with someone else's app. You'd have to contact the dev.

I must have been unclear, I am not trying to register my URL with another Dev's app, I am trying to create a URL to type into safari like "Appname:" that will automatically launch my app, the Prowl stuff was background info.
