Everybody has different tastes and learning styles. I'd suggest going to a large bookstore with a good selection of tech books and spending several hours looking over the different books on Objective C and iPhone development.

I would also suggest picking up the Kerrigan and Richie C book. It's the definitive reference on C. I recently re-discovered my copy. Those two can really write very well, and their book is an excellent introduction to C. If you have the time, read that book from cover to cover and do the exercises.

I read Aaron Hillegass's book on Cocoa for Mac OS and thought it was good. He also has a book on iOS development for beginners. I haven't read it, but it is probably good, given the quality of his other writing.

You should also check out the section on this site devoted to iOS development books.

Check out this password generator app that shows various techniques including using a data container singleton object to share data between objects in your project.

Check out a very cool Macintosh Kaleidoscopes app called ScopeWorks that we released to the Mac App store.

THe way I learned was mainly from apple developer reference library, pouring over the sdk. I also learned a lot by downloading projects off of github and seeing how they do things..
stackoverflow has also been a huge resource.
