play a short sound, sound selection

hello as some of you may know already i am trying to create a drum machine app. i have put 12 buttons across the ui all with a different drum sound. now i want to allow my users to be able to build their own sets by selecting a sound from a drop down menu allowing them to choose between multiple sounds for each button for example button one will be a kick drum the menu below it will allow them to choose a classic kick, electronic kick, or hip hop kick. does anybody know how i might be able to acomplish this task
