Default Virtual Goods Api

Hi,

I'm Chris, I've been posting on this forum for a couple of years now and I'd like to shamelessly plug my new web service Virtual Goods, Inc, available here: http://www.virtualgoodsinc.com

What is it?

It's a Virtual Goods Api, you can upload your assets into projects and products which can be accessed via a simple api.

What in it for you?

You could use the Api to offer your users additional content for your game to keep their engagement.

Example usage

Let's say AngryBirds used our Api, for a start, they wouldn't have to get users to download a new app every so often with new levels in it, the user could browse the content from the app, but they would set it up like this:

They create a new project: "Angry Birds", they can then create a new product, let's say: "Zombie Birds Level", they can specify the data for this level, they can then upload the assets for this level.

The product will have a unique id, this can be used to download the content into the app. You can use json objective-c to download the content easily.

Publishing times can also be set, so you could have content published at certain times.

What's the price?

It's free to use for 7 days, If you don't want to use it after that, simply don't use it :-)

Logging in
The system uses Google authentication, so if you have a Google email account, you can login straight away.

Comments

Please leave me any feedback you have!

Thanks

Chris

Personal, non-commercial use only? Waive all rights to uploaded content? Your T's & C's suck, man.

Your pricing is quite high, as well - plus that monthly minimum.

Pass - I'll stick with Amazon S3.

Hi lgehrig1,

You know what? you're absolutely right, they sucked. I've changed the Terms and Conditions with immediate effect.

If there was no monthly minimum, would that be more financially viable to you?

Regards

Chris

Serious props for that. Too many companies either go catatonic or defensive when confronted.

As a suggestion, flesh out the acceptable use policy a bit more, particularly where content is concerned. Apple's App Store kinda frowns on nasty things, but Android is more open. England's rules concerning, say, Holocaust denial (if I may invoke Godwin) are a mite different than America's ...

Not really. Amazon S3 still clocks in at two orders of magnitude less on storage fees. Bandwidth costs are cheaper as well, and actually start to go down if I go over 10 TB out in a month (and oh how I wish I got THAT popular).
