Default Is my promo video rubbish?

Well, I thought I'd ask your opinions.

My first app is still going through the Apple review process so I thought I'd try my hand at a video in the meantime.

It is an app for professionals (medics) so if the video looks crap then I guess I may be better off not using it.

It's my first attempt and thought I should seek some other opinions.

Feel free to be brutal as I don't want to use something that's not good.

Thanks

I like it, I don't know the app, but the video looks good.

If I were to change anything, I think I'd zoom into the app a bit more. Maybe make the app a larger part of the screen, and the text can be a smaller part.

Your video is much worse than the first one. Can't you afford to buy a tripod for camera? Shaky camera is really bad. Also that piece of paper under iPhone looks really amateur. You should also position light source better and zoom much closer. And finally your video has black bars of both sides.

To thread starter: Video looks good apart from the hand. It doesn't look good, is it added afterwards using video editing tools?

It is not rubbish, and does a good job in explaining the app

A few pointers:

1. If possible, get rid of the hand. It is a bit cheesy. Use a small circle to show where the hand taps instead.
2. Show the text first for 1 or 2 seconds, make the person viewing actually read through it, and then show the app. It is impossible to read the text and follow the hand at the same time.
3. I would get rid of the wavy text effects at the end. Kinda breaks the professional feeling.
4. Would think of a better music. It's too soothing

Good luck!

Thanks for all your responses, I really appreciate it. And I'm pleased to see that my video is ok!

I will make all the changes you suggested - they are really helpful comments and many were things I'd kind of thought of myself (but hearing it from someone else makes a difference!).

The finger was using PhoneFinger but it doesn't look great so will change this.

Thanks again.

I think the video is good - the appearance and smoothness of the flow is great. My only crit is on the music. I feel like I should be a watching a funeral promo, not something to help people.

Also, I know you list out that it has 20 different guides, but I would call out at least a few of them. Granted, maybe someone watching it will dig deeper, but don't make them to do so. Let them know what is included right away.

Otherwise, I think you are really on the right track with it.

Excellent, thanks. I will change the music - I'm finding it very hard to choose something but will go for a different feel. Good tip about the guidelines too...

You might concider NO music. You can do a voice over instead. Maybe have the text roll out and the voice over read the text for them. This would allow you to have smaller text and larger graphics.

Worth a try.

Thanks, will think about that. Not sure about doing the voice over myself. Think it needs an American accent (and I'm Scottish). Might look into finding someone though....
