Default Profit Share Promotion

I saw the post by AragornSG in http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/pr...tml#post385168 however, I didn't want to tangent that thread. He mentions FGOTD having a promotion price of $XXXX or revenue sharing.

As a part time developer with minimal finances, profit sharing for promotion peaked my interest. Are there many places that will do profit sharing as the price for promotion?

I don't know if there are many, but I have been approached by two individuals already who offered to promote the app for the share of the profit, however I turned them down. I believe that I'm able to promote the app myself and don't have to give away huge chunk of the money earned.

Last offer I believe was a year contract under which the other company would promote the app and receive 60% of the revenue above the current average. On paper it sounds great, they tell you that if you're making $500 a day now, they turn it into $5000 a day and they take 60% of the $4500 . The catch here is that it's a better deal for then than it is for you.

They don't have to do a thing, it's not their app, it's yours. And you are going to do everything you can to promote it. So in theory, it's plausible that they will do nothing, you will work your butt off, you'll double the revenue generated by your app and guess what, they are going to take 60% of it.

Be *very* careful when you deal with profit sharing. I do flat rates only.

I'm in the app marketing business, but some unbiased advice here lol -

You could offer the company 60 percent of revenue above the weekly download average. Say you make $500 a week. They increase it to $700. They would get 60% of $200 dollars of revenue.

What do you think?
