Default Driving web traffic to App an effective promotion strategy?

Hey Guys,

I am trying to think of some ways to drive traffic to my apps other than keyword optimization and app store searches.

Has anyone here had any measurable success by creating a website and/or blog, doing SEO, and driving that traffic to their app? I just would like to know if anyone has had any experience or data to give me insight into whether this is a worth while technique or not.

As a personal story one of my old apps called "WoW Jokes", world of warcraft jokes, had a site that was hitting the bottom of the first page of google for the search term "wow jokes". I was getting a few hundred hits a month, but not nearly as many clickthroughs to make any difference on downloads. Sadly the app was removed due to a cease and desist from activision :/ so that data is a year old.

Anyways from what I've heard from other app developers adsense is terrible and admob burns a hole in your pocket. Best bet is to go out and talk to users of your app, and find out what they like and don't like. There is no replacement for iterating on your app and improving it in my opinion.

On the flipside if you want a website for your app its never a bad thing, I think you can get a free/cheap one from app.net if you want it to be up and running fast.

Cool apps these days comes along with different useful stuff just like what I read in an article. It says there that hands-free applications are a necessity when driving. These driving applications are necessary too. That is, if you need to save money and not get as many speeding tickets. Article resource: Best smartphone driving apps for staying safe and saving cash.

I have a movie centric site that directly ties into my app (the website came first, then the app...) On each move page we have at the top, for example, "239 people are counting down to The Hunger Games with the Movie Clock app. Get it now for FREE!"

See it here: The Hunger Games (2012), The Hunger Games Review, The Hunger Games Photos and Clips | FlickDirect

This type of promotion has been successful but I wouldn't say astronomically so but perhaps you can get some ideas out of it.

Yes, I did some good Apps marketing stuff for our Android & iPhone Apps.

1. You create unique website for your Apps with best designs. You can Choose some good Keyword which is related to your Apps then Start SEO rank that all keyword.

2. Integrate your Social Network Button on your Website.

3. Promote Your Apps on Social Networking sites.

4. Promote your App over Apps Reviews Sites.

5. Participates in Different Community or Forum sites and promote your Apps.

6. Create few Videos and upload on YouTube. Share this video in Social Networking Profiles.

Hope This All Stuff may helpful for you,

Cheers
