My buddy and I are in the process of making our first iphone game and we'd like to get some advices from everybody. We are very excited about our project but are absolutely new to the marketing business. Besides the review site lists (mostly obtained from a master thread here), we are trying to make a blog regarding our project. Can somebody please let me know how I can get traffic to my blog and which blogs should I subscribe to? We are more than happy to submit to your blogs and learn a little more about your story so please let us know about your blog as well .
Well its not so technical sort of issue as such, let me try to however give you a rough idea of how it should be.
First question is how to blog, its simple, start any free blog, wordpress or blogspot or any other will work. Then start posting! First talk about iphones in general, then about iphone application, then about iphone application development, then you can give some personal experiences from your development process. Then you can slowly turn to your game application, and write about each point of it... and so on... Try to keep your content genuine, good and unique, and do some optimization, this will slowly increase your site PR and reputation, this users will increase, you can also go for adwords or may be Facebook ads for it to drive traffic.
But do not forget to go for the common SEO for your site/blog whatever it may be, otherwise you may not be in result even for your own game name, as you know there are lots of apps with almost same name nowadays.
Do ask if there is anything you would like to ask!

Thanks for the response Peter! I'm wondering, besides posting in our own blog, is there a way out there where I can post on other developer's blogs? I would like to share my story and also read about other's. Most importantly, I can't seem to be able to find many developer's blog, any advice?
Just thought I'll give my few insights on this.
First of all, I think is to identify your audience. What kind of game are you making? Is it a casual game? A hardcore game? Is it oriented to a more family-friendly style?
One thing I've always wondered is how many gamers actually end up looking at blogs about such things.
I think another way of marketing is to create youtube videos. Especially GOOD quality development videos. There's quite a lot of indie development videos out there, but to be honest none of them are really decent. (I do filming as a side hobby, especially in filming events, such as sports or weddings)
I agree with what peterthomas says, be genuine in the content. A good way to do so, I would say is also to have your audience be engaged in the development process. Ask them for comments/suggestions. Sure, they won't know the difficulties in certain development process, but there are certainly some things they do have the right thing in mind. There's always that issue with being the development and thinking in a biased way of your own game.
I'm actually thinking of making video blogs myself with my own iOS apps(not games, just productivity, utility apps). I would be happy to attempt to make video blogs about your games throughout development. This will allow me to fine-tune my own skills in making video documentaries and finding what parts to show regarding a program development process.
Written blogs aren't my thing, so I'm more geared towards the video blog thing. So perhaps that is something you could consider.
So if any of you who are interested in having a video blog regarding your development, I would be honored to make one. I'm trying to do one for my own, but I have a hard time juggling between two different work modes, programming development and video documentary. So it would definitely benefit me to be able to document someone's else work, as I only have to focus on one work mode.

Well, Now the simple question is where to find the "other bloggers about iphone", firstly you need to search for the iphone reviewing sites, most of the people who blog about iphone apps use this title too often. Secondly, search for apps related to your app but not exactly in same genre and target their developers and ask them through mail.
What I mean is that, suppose you are making a clock application, you need to check the companies that make the calculator or other utilities application and you can ask them about a partnership in terms of review. keep the "reviews" honest, otherwise you ll lose your reputation.
Also you can search google for iphone related blogs but using the "inurl" or "intitle" commands. (you can google these commands for further details.)
I hope these things will be able to get you a list of sites that you actually need. Do ask if you have more queries.
