children book and IAP

Hi ,
im developing a children's book app for the Ipad. i don't know which way to go, my options are:

1. preimum version at 2.99+ free lite version whith a link to the app store

2. free version +IAP to full version

i don't have enough money to make both preimum version and free version +IAP to full version

did any of you publish children's book for the Ipad? which way is best? also,
my problem is that as i understood i won't get any promo codes for the IAP version. is this true?

I just released my first kids educational app. I decided to make it free with IAP as i thought this model would be best and would encourage impulse purchasing by parents. As far as i am aware there are no promo codes for IAP.
