Does pay per install still exist? Whats up with Tap Joy
Hi I was wondering if there are any form of pay per install still around. Or services that give incentive to install an app a user may be interested in.
So far I checked out Tap Joy, Flurry and W3i's websites and they are quite vague as to what they exactly do. I also heard that Apple is finding ways to prevent manipulation.
If someone could give me a round up on what the situation currently is and what kind of 3rd party services can help boost install rates that would be great.
Tapjoy is still around but the number of apps that still have the offer wall is probably extremely small today. Personally I've found *non-incentivized* pay-per-install ads to be the most cost effective for getting users who genuinely want to use your apps. We've experimented with incentivized PPI ads in the past and found that, while the cost-per-install was very low, so was the quality of the users the ads attracted.
Finally, stay far far away from ad networks that charge by the click (i.e. AdMob).

Hi Ziconic, would you mind sharing a little more details about which companies you like for the non-incentivized PPIs? I was looking at OfferMobi, but it seems like they have been in beta since Feb. I'm wondering if they are struggling and/or if there are better places to go.

We've used Flurry most recently. They have been around a long time and we've found the cost per registered user (users who see the ad, download the app and create an account with us in the app) to be reasonable. Tapjoy has non-incentivized PPIs too but we haven't had a chance to try them yet.
Because it's pay per click and not pay per install? Please explain. Tks.

Don't have much knowledge about Tap Joy but if you wanted to go for Pay per Install then Fresh app is really good and Admob is really good for App promotion over many other & Related Apps.
