Default App launch To Do Checklist for Promotion

I have developed a very cool new game, now the problem is, as I read in the forums here without a proper and effective marketing spend, or marketing strategy no matter how interesting ur game is, it may die in app store considering the competition.

i am ready to invest some money, like may be $300-500 to help my game get the exposure it deserve in the beginning.

Can anyone give me some pointers? may be like a "App Launch To Do Checklist" you guys do when you launch a new game/app?

Like may be..

1) Promo Video to Tube sites
2) PR Mac
3) Twitter
4) Forums (Which forums?)
5) review Sites (Can this be outsourced?)

Is this what it is?

Just a couple of thoughts (not really a checklist)

1) I think you saw the other post on the big list of review sites. It's awesome. I wouldn't outsource that part as I think it's important for you to keep up on the list, know who you have contacted, etc. Also, I think it very important that you post in the forums directly, as you want instant emails when someone replies so that you can reply and keep a conversation going. Nothing better than having people interested in your app talking about it.

2) Install the app on regular-non tech savvy family/friends/co-workers device and watch them interact without comment. You will learn a lot and hopefully avoid any earlier basic issues

3) Contact some of the sites early where they want to know about your app before it's released. I have never done this, and they might just ignore you as much as they ignore you by contacting them afterwards. But it couldn't hurt. If you can go live and have a review up at the same time, I think that would be huge and I wish I would have taken the step to do this now.

4) Really be critical of your app icon and screen shots. Looking back at it now, and after looking at a lot of other apps, I feel that I can compete with some but I don't stand out the way I want, especially with the top guys. For my next game, I plan to spend the money to get that extra edge because that's the first thing people see when looking for a new app.

5) Look at moo.com and buy some of those little cards to pass around to people. I see people everyday with an iPhone or iPAD and it takes just a second to hand them a card, tell them your a developer and you would be surprised how interested people are into buying your app.

Best of luck
