Twitter promos good for social pushing?

Hello,

just wanted to ask and get some opinion if Twitter really helped you to get new buyers for your app?

I personally tried Twitter a lot with my Name Generator app and I watched, how many people clicked my bit.ly links to go to iTunes and take a look on my app. I think from over 30 postings on Twitter within 3 weeks, I didn't even get 3 clicks in Twitter. I had more than 500 followers, and posted in several #

I targeted creatives on Twitter, #IDRTG, #iphone, #apps, #ipad, and a lot more. No results. Totally waste of time for me.

Since some weeks I didn't give Twitter another try for other apps, because I thought Twitter isn't performing for me.

It depends.. How did you acquire the 500 followers? If they are through services such as Twiends, then they are unlikely to be engaged followers. If they followed because they liked your app / services / friends they are more likely to be engaged.

Secondly, is the app targeting the audience of your followers? e..g if they followed you because they liked a game you made, and then you start pushing a name generating app, then there is likely a mismatch in interest.

Also, using common hashtags will have little impact as your tweets will not go beyond the noise threshold, you will need people to retweet to get some sort of viral spread.

No, I didn't have followers who "liked" my app, just collected followers randomly.

Is there a free SDK or some good tutorial to add "Like" buttons for Facebook and Twitter to your app?
