I am a iOS developer myself and created (with the help of some other devs) a website to promote your apps for free.
Its called Redeemcodes.com and you can get your app featured for 24 hours in exchange for some promocodes of your app. In the 24 hours that your app is on the site, visitors can subscribe / participate to win your app. At the end of the 24 hours, your supplied promocodes will be send to the winners who are randomly selected from all subscribers.
We made a very easy to use developer dashboard. You only have to fill in your AppStore developer ID and it will get all your app information from iTunes. Such as the description / icon and screenshots.
my question is: why would users go through all this trouble for a CHANCE to get a crappy app for free, when they could just wait for FAAD and get a AAA title for free, guaranteed?
I don't think you've done a lot of homework on your competition.
FAAD is highly overrated and I can't believe, people still pay for them.
When I made my game free for a day, I got 150 thousand downloads without FAAD
There is many possibilities to find AAA titles going cheaper or even free.
/ON
Promo Code giveaways are a nice way to get paid apps for free.
It is also a very good way for small developers to get a bit exposure for their apps.
I always prefer promo codes to get nice apps for free, hence I made Promo Dispenser.
It is also nice to have websites centralized for promo code giveaways, instead of spreading them on Twitter, forums and other channels.
Anyway, I don't think, that there is a need for a new site without an active userbase, because I know, how many people use Promo Dispenser, even if they can get promo codes without sweepstakes and drawings. That's why I think, a new site which tries to do contests for apps will fail naturally.
The only way to make it successful would be to get famous games for the site, but famous games don't need to give away promo codes, so they don't care.
I contacted almost all of them and I didn't even get a response.

I really don't want to mess with you or so, but can you explain to me, what you exactly offer for developers with your site?
I mean, it is really really good looking. I am even a bit jelous for your design, but except being seen (?) on the web, what does a dev get from your site?
I ask it as a developer.
Why should I use your site instead of AppGiveaway, which practically does the same as your site?

It's basically the same, a developer gets his promotion by being on the site. Getting mentions on twitter etc.
Redeemcodes is just another site giving away promo codes. You can never have enough of those ;-)
Ok, if you think, you can be "succesful" with it, then go for it.
If you would have asked me, I would have advised you to put your energy into something new and try to come up with a fresh idea, but ok. The important thing is, that you keep up the good work.
