BTW our list of sites in our database has also got bigger - now it includes 454 sites in 23 languages.
We know how boring is sending announcement to even 100 sites, so we help app developers and app marketers with this.
We can send your app announcement to all of those 454 sites for only $173. We can help sending announcement to subset of languages, e.g. sending to 209 sites that post iphone-related news in English costs only $81.
We provide screenshots of filled forms as a report (for sites that we contacted using onsite forms).

Just remember that US AppStore is not the only AppStore in the world.
Fantastic post of information. I'm wondering, what are the odds of getting your game reviewed by the top sites such as Touch Arcade, Top148, and IGN? Has somebody ever had successful stories before? Many thanks!
Well, it's several months later than I anticipated, but I've just updated all of the Alexa ratings and added any sites that asked to be added. I'm about to go through and add any more sites that have sprung up since the list was first made, as well as adding any that might have slipped through the net the first time around. I'll try to get some contents etc up soon after so that the list is a bit easier to navigate.
I was just wondering if you would add masterofhubes.wordpress.com to your list. I just started it about 3 days ago and already have 2 reviews posted and 3 more lined up. Thanks for considering it.
I thought I'd just let you all know that I just posted a (hopefully) very comprehensive list of app review sites that don't charge for reviews. You can get to it here:
A lot of work went into the list, so I hope that it's useful. If you think I can improve the resource in any way (perhaps with more information or different formatting) I'd love to know. Similarly, if you can think of any sites that I might have missed out, please let me know.
If you have any suggestions of other resources that you as developers might find beneficial, I'd be happy to consider producing them in the future.
Enjoy!
Great list but putting TechCrunch on the list made me chuckle. I mean this is like submitting your app to heaven to review, ultimately you may read your app's review after you've left this world.

Aim to write really refreshing pitch. Use your imagination - if its a space rts, then roll play with the text, and make it fun, "Houston, we have a problem: our new spact rts on iphone is stuck out there but no one can see it, request help. Over" [and then outline USP and key features of the game]. Aim is to be memorable, so when going in cold to editors, they will read on and think, "Like what you did there.."
We're creative people. This stuff some come natural. PM, as happy to help out though

This blog post has a good list of review sites, as well as a rundown of app promotion techniques.
Might be worth a look for all of you looking to promote
