Hope you can help a complete noob here! I am getting ready to launch a new game in the next couple of weeks. It is being made by a development company for me, and they have been sending me beta versions for me to test and provide feedback.
So far, things are going pretty well, but I realise I am getting close to launch now, so really want to kick start the marketing side of things.
My question is: How do I send game review sites a copy of the game to test, before its available on the App Store?
Is this even possible? I mean I get two files sent to me every few days by the development company, but I understand this will only work on my iphone because of their request for my UDID?
If this is the case, how can I get app reviewers to try out the game prior to launch?
Am curious to know how others do this, if at all?
Again, apologies if this is a stupid question! I am very new to this :-)
You would need to ask the reviewers for UDID for their devices, then ask the dev company you hired, to do an "ad hoc" build with those UDID for the reviewers. Also consider that the amount of UDIDs of the dev company may be limited too, you would need to ask them.
Also, keep in mind that it may not be easy to get attention from review sites, specially big ones, some may just ignore your request for their UDID for review.. you must have a good game, so you can get their attention.
I would recommend: If you have a good game, contact review sites first with just screenshots and a description of the game your about to release, maybe a trailer video, if they get interested to publish some prerelease stuff about it, they may reply to you and that may be a good time to provide the beta build of the game. If your game is not good, then I would not even bother to contact review sites. By good I mean a game that has good gameplay and good graphics, just to start with..
thanks vbovia, thats great info. I will do as you suggested and send them some screenshots and a youtube video link to the game to see if they are interested.
In terms of if its good enough, who knows! Its my idea so of course I am naturally biased!
But the few people who've seen it tell me they like the concept, and I think the graphics are ok.
