Default New way of using reviews :O :O

Well this is genius, maybe you already know about it...

Just yesterday, don't ask me why, 1 day after release we've got a free app on the iPad on the #1 in china and far east. (And top #3 in pretty much rest of the world...)

Well... We've got no reviews from US after thousands of downloads, but we've got some in China...

The genius part of it all it's that they don't talk about the app itself!!

All the reviews are... Advertising for their online business.

So they are promoting themselves based on the fact that that page will be see by, who knows, millions of Chinese being at the top of the charts... :O

A nice side effect to that is that because they are promoting their own business they all give 5 stars to the app
LOL, thanks guys!

Amazing...

Tell me about it. It is weird getting 5 stars for the app, but promoting tampons in the review.

Did you solicit these spam ads ?

Do you actually want them... I mean, is this actually good promotion for your app?

I'm not sure I understand you?

My app is about photography and augmented reality, their reviews are about selling some cheap memory in China.

It's not a "promotion" at all, it's just another way for them to get visibility, since my app was #1 in China (for reasons unknown)

It's like advertising your product by commenting on a Justin Bieber video on youtube cos that page it's watched millions of times a day. (Well sure in this case you won't survive few minutes as you will be soon overtaken by other comments, but the concept it's the same)

Sorry I was a bit confused, I thought that you were explaining that the 5-star spam reviews somehow got you into the #1 spot in China.
