One of our strategies when releasing our game "Jungool" has been to send out a press kit with promo codes to various websites in hope of a review. We have spent over a year developing our game and believe we have made a high quality and entertaining product. Most of our reviews on the App Store are 5 stars.
Touch Arcade do not seem to want to review our game yet I see lots of comparatively average games being reviewed on there all the time. We cannot understand why they won't review our game.
It's hard enough to get noticed but we don't get why we're being ignored. Any ideas on what we've done wrong or how we can improve our position to get noticed?
I sent touch arcade an email with promo code the day after our app got in the N&N US overall list. I got an email back saying thanks for the promo code.
It's been almost a month later and still no review. Our game is solid, 4 and 4.5 star average for the full and lite. I think it just gets stuck in the queue somewhere and its either forgotten or not high enough priority. I did send a followup email asking, the guy said that they can't reveal when they will review, but they did claim our promo code.
Obviously its in their best interest to review more popular games, because when people click on links they get get a cut as an affiliate.
Looks like a good app guys! Sometimes submitting through the web form or a common mail address may not get notice by the editors. My suggestion is to find out a particular editor from toucharcade and let him/her know about the app.
You can try out their Twitter profile, lists etc to find out the person. Good luck with the app!
I noticed this too. They also ignored my request, yet some of the games I've seen on there are really quite basic.
I could only assume that those are indie developers who had a presence on their forums or something. They're very adamant that their reviews are totally impartial and not based on any advertising - so i doubt they would really want to risk their reputation over some of these mediocre games.
I contacted them to ask about advertising, just to get an idea, and its reallllly expensive. Top banner $1700 a week.
I suggest you to contact their Editors who is specifically reviewing games app. If you can find his/her Email/Twitter/Facebook, you can send email.
Hope this works.
