Having fans is great, but, when they don't give a crap about you it doesn't do much good. It's easy to ignore a timeline.
You're right, Jeremy. It's really difficult for your posts to get noticed in a crowded time-line. That's true for Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. However this is the reason why you should increase your network to maximize your chances of getting noticed. It's like with Ads, you try to make as many impressions as possible hoping that someone will pay attention to the Ad and click on it .
Of course, the most important thing is to have a decent product. If you show your fans the benefit they get from your product using a catchy title and a fancy picture, you'll get attract more attention. It also helps to interact with your fans and giveaway free stuff (iPads, Promocodes and etc ...). Overtime, you'll get more loyal fans. Remember that most people don't care about you. They only care about themselves. You should always give them a reason to fan you and share your posts to their friends.
For now, what this website offers you is a very good base to start with. It encourages your real fans to join your page. Many people are hesitant to like a page with low number of fans even if they really like it
I just gave this a try and got a whole bunch of followers...
I don't think any of these followers care what I'm saying, they just followed me to get a seed/credit so that they get more followers themselves.
I used a similar service in the past that automatically added people and in return, they would follow you on twitter. I got up to about 1000 followers and to be honest, it made me hate twitter.
Nothing anyone was saying was relevant (half was about real estate) and no one really ever replied to anything I ever said.
You need quality followers to work twitter. This isn't about branding yourself cause you're a small business not TGIFridays trying to increase their brand name by being cool on Twitter. This service is not for me...

I do understand what you're saying about having your followers look higher than 0 though. Get the ball rolling and what not, not a bad idea. I just don't think this is a solid long term plan.

You're absolutely right. You should not depend on this site alone. However, the site gives a good base to start with, but the real work starts when you have these people in your network. Remember, these are real people that are looking to grow their social network just like you do. If you interact with them, it will pay off at the end. You need to build loyalty.
Yeah, Twiends gives you folks that want to increase their own followers. Honestly, they're utterly worthless followers and do nothing but make your numbers look more impressive - which hopefully gets you more followers, or some crap.
It's hard to organically grow followers but be persistent and eventually they come.
