Getting Started With The iTunes Affiliate Program

I've been going back and forth with LinkShare and Apple all week as well. My app is built on iTunes music links (it suggests new albums for you), so I didn't want to submit it before getting into the affiliate program. But Apple is insisting that my web-page has links to iTunes on it. So now I've submitted the app, and will add a link to my app on my web page so I can get in the program, then will release an update to my app with affiliate links turned on.

What a pain.. You'd think Apple would understand that. I even offered them an adhoc/beta build of my app so they could see it, and screenshots of how it works, but they insisted that my website had to have iTunes links on it..

Oh well, sounds like I'm not the only one jumping through hoops. I just hope my app gets in the app store quickly so I can start on the update!

Yeah; it is annoying. On the bright side I did eventually get approved; so keep at it!

I just applied with my site. It's just a single app site so we'll see if it gets approved.

Rejected Don't really care, I just wanted it so I could track the actual conversions from my site and other marketing tools. Too bad.

I really don't think that the affiliate team realizes that the development team recommends developers to become affiliates. Otherwise it makes no sense to reject. These people are typically marketing coordinators, so they're probably like 'why the heck are all these developers trying to be affiliates?? We want content sites damn it!'

Well... they did eventually accept me after I jazzed up my site; so its never to late.
