The promo dispenser app was pulled from the appstore by apple.
They couldn't tell any reason, the said "just because" or they tried to invent some reasons.
The website has technical issues, because apple always changes something and we have to catch up.

Ow, this sux. I downloaded the app, liked it. Could you post here the email from Apple?
Try the "review board" thingy. I would keep bugging them, this app deserves to be in appstore.

I emailed the advisory board, but nothing helped.
I have no email, because they called me twice and we talked about an hour both times.
I tried to explain why it is a good thing, and they told me that they understand my reasons and it is a good thing, but they decided to pull it anyway.
When I asked, why, they always said some random reasons. When I argued, why it can't be a violation of anything, they invented another reason on the fly.
It was no straight answer and they couldn't point me to the written rule, what I exactly violate.
Sounds very odd. But the advisory board now has to come up with a reply I suppose.
Probably they don't like the App because it makes it easy for people to get promo-codes -> App for free -> no revenue for Apple -> evil
(Of course they would never admit this)
I noticed on reviews that many people complained that "Ow, we thought we could get paid apps for free, but it turns out we have to go somewhere, sign up, get some codes, etc., and not all apps are available". The users obviously have very little clue how that promo code thingy works. They wouldn't understand that this was the only possible way of doing it. So some users could have complained to Apple and Apple simply could have decided to remove the app without bothering much.

They were talking about
- violating affiliate rules (no clue how)
- resembling the appstore (many other apps, like appshopper do that)
- promo codes may not be given away by anybody else, than their developer (they give it away, not me. I just run the platform, which makes it technically possible)
- we are not allowed to force users to write a review (most ridiculous. I am not forcing anybody. Everybody is free to decide if they accept the rules and want to sign up or not)
And maybe some other "reasons" I can't remember right now...
However. None of their "reasons" are written anywhere. They just invented them while we were talking.
I was probably talking to some mindless minions, who got the command "call him and tell him, it will be pulled" and they called without knowing, what they should say.
They probably didn't expect that I can argue and I will be right.

My other account was banned from the forum (no reason given), so I answer with this one. (maybe the Mod won't like it and will ban this too)...
Cheers

Since you appear to be OK with airing your dirty laundry publicly, I will say that I did not ban you -- the Admins did. I pointed them in the direction of the two posts where you (1) told me that I could put a forum thread up into my ***, and (2) suggested that a known minor perform a sexual act on Steve Jobs. Considering you told me via PM that you didn't really care if you were banned or not, it's funny that immediately after being banned, the first thing you do is create another account to log in. Perhaps this means that you really did care about being banned or not, but at this point the Admins have made their decision.
Promo Dispenser was reworked and now our users will spread and review the apps on Facebook.
Reviewing apps is mandatory on promo dispenser and every app will be posted on the user's wall, so your app will get a tremendous boost in marketing.
Because apple doesn't allow reviews on iTunes for promo codes anymore, the only way to get feedback and communicate with your users is using promo dispenser.
It doesn't cost anything and what can you loose? Some otherwise useless promo codes?
Additional twitter extension will be introduced shortly.
We had to start over from scratch, but we hope, that we soon can welcome back those 1500+ developers, 1800+ apps, 9000+ users and 40.000+ promo codes, we had in the previous version.

You will be connected with YOUR Facebook account and you can start interacting with Promo Dispenser.
You will get the like button the first time, when you need it, or you can click it on the right side in the menu. That's all.
You do everything else on the website.

Would you please look at the site, before start assuming things?
There is no hunt.
There is a website: it's in my signature.
Go there and you will see.
The site will automatically post about your app to the users facebook site, so their friends can check it out too.
The main point is not the appstore anymore, thanks to Apple, but the thousands of users on Promo Dispenser, the millions of users on Facebook and you as a dev getting feedback and free marketing.
iPhone users and Appstore customers are also on Facebook, you know :-P
Or do you think, the many "review exchange" topics and getting reviews on forums is any better? Then go for them and don't care about people, who would see your app on their freinds Facebook as a trusted source to buy it, even if they don't find it on the Appstore. :-P

Just submitted again for the new version. Hopefully it will impact a bit more than last time!

i think that the idea is not for the reviews, but the person who reviewed the app might have 1,000 friends who would all be exposed to your program.
if anything, i would rather see it be a flat-out ad instead of a review.
something like:
your friend just downloaded "your app" for his iphone, you should too!
it also might limit your exposure to bad reviews that are not justified.
for instance, i have put codes on that site, and most of the reviews were fair and 4-5 stars. but i also had a couple of 1-stars with a comment like "i dont know what this is, but i downloaded it anyway".
so clearly it was someone who had no idea what he was doing, downloaded it, and gave it 1 star.
it would be like me downloading an app thats totally in spanish, then giving it a 1-star because i dont understand spanish...
ok like duhhh, why did you download it?
so this way, at least if you get one of those idiots, it will fall off their facebook wall after awhile, not a permanent 1-star on your app store rating
I'd like to see the facebook page.. this sounds like a good marketing method. devs often lack of exposure of their apps to be presented directly to the users. but i'd like to see the fb page where there are millions of users? thanks.

But you don't have to visit it. We created an app, which connects Promo Dispenser with Facebook, so this app is visible in the Games section of Facebook and this app has of course a wall, but that has almost nothing to do with the real thing.
Facebook is just the platform now to reach out for users, like iTunes was previously.
The millions of users are not on that single page, but on FACEBOOK in general.
If we get back all of our users and even more through facebook, every of our users has at least 5-10 friends, who will see, that John Doe downloaded your app and maybe becomes curious. He may ask him, if it is any good and he can say: Yeah it's pretty good, but there is no promo codes anymore, go and buy it and sign up for promo dispenser, so you don't miss the next batch of codes for other apps.
That's the way, how viral marketing works...
And don't just upload your app and wait for the miracle. Be active and download other apps too, so YOUR friends see promo dispenser too so you can help to grow the site and then your future apps will get even more exposure.
