"New & Noteworthy"
How do you get in that? I never saw my app in any new lists... dont think I did the change date thing in time..

Trying to get some exposure for my app, its real good

I'm pretty sure the New section is useless for us developers. Its rarely updated and some apps are more than 3-4 months old.

One of my apps was featured in this section this week. I have not idea why or how but I am not complaining. I wrote up a blog post on how this is impacting me money wise that you may interested in reading.

Long story short - I don't know how to get featured on "New and Notable" but I wish I did...

Also, I have been watching this section closely and I see that it seems to be getting updated once a week now (it used to lag for a month or more). So, it is possible that Apple is featuring more people for less amounts of time.

That could be good for more of us.

I have been featured there before. They update the list every Tuesday. You are on the list for a month as it cycles through. Very good income while you are on that list.

yeah, i was contacted via email on Sunday and on the list this last Tuesday, and it's bumped my app into the top 10 in a day almost in my category. Crazy, so hope it stays there a while!

That would be whatever direction Cupertino is from you....

There is no set method for getting listed here, it is purely up to the whims of Apple - its based on what they think will sell well, and thus make them more money.

The same happened to us with "7 Chords". Stayed there for a week which gave us really great sales. I was surprised how many iPhone users own a guitar :-)

We just got featured on this, the first days numbers are up here
Initial sales effects of new and noteworthy section.

It was a pleasant surprise and made a big difference to sales, but perhaps only because we we weren't selling much before!

The other thing to note is that there is a release "In Review" for the app as I write this (fingers are crossed) so perhaps that's how it came to someone's attention.

One of my very first games that I've made was featured in New and Noteworthy as well!

I actually never got an email from Apple, but it took looking at a blogger friend of mine on twitter to find out, as she previewed another upcoming game of mine....

Strange, but happy about it!

How do you find out when your app started to be featured under new and noteworthy?

If there was a guaranteed way, we'd all be on it every week lol

It's up to the staff. Different stores have different 'picks' as well, so what's hot in one country isn't necessarily hot in another!

Hehe.. just wondering.. but if ur app is targeted for a specific group of ppl, like in case of my apps, those who is in electronics only.. so, the reviewers surely not interested in those right? so there is almost 0 possibility for my app to be featured there.. right? maybe we should start making friends with the apple staffs and find out what app they like. LOL!

I don't think this is necessarily true. I've seen a bunch of specialized music apps that sell for $20 and even a couple apps for medical students that were over $40. I'm sure different staff members are going to be more tuned to apps within certain domains, but I think any high quality app has a chance of being featured, especially if it's particularly clever or unique in some way.

I always wondered how being featured there compared to being in the top 10 of all paid apps.

From late August 2008 to the end of September 2008 I had a top 10 paid app (it bounced between position 5 and position 10). I was making $2,300+/day.

Getting featured on "New and Noteworthy" is really big - in December 2008 we were also selling more than 1000 apps per day.

Being featured on "What we play" is not even close to these numbers, since this section only exists on iTunes, not one the phone.

Sorry to bump such an old thread but it seems like my first game got into the New and Noteworthy section. At least that's what Distimo says. So how do I find out in which country this did happen? I haven't got a mail from Apple though...

It was (is?) in these countries:

Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia

And it had 0 (ZERO) impact.

There is still hope that being in N&N of some "stronger" countries will bring in some cash, but this is just disappointing...
