I have no actual experience with the Android market but I've heard the app store is more profitable.

Depends on how viral your app is. Why not both if you can?

We have apps in iTunes and Android - currently iTunes is FAR MORE profitable, but I am sure Android will move up quickly since Google obviously has a vested interest in the success of the platform and they also own AdMob...

We usually develop for iOS first, then create the apps that are proven to be popular in Android... Makes sense right? Don't spend twice the time and money on DUDS...

iTunes store definitely has the most clientele at the moment. If you're just starting out (and making games), you might want to look into some of the unniversal dev platforms like Unity. Might as well get your game in both places.

Android is definitely posed to be the turtle that slowly gains on the hare over time.

I don't think many Paid apps do that great on the Android Market place. I would recommend building a Paid app for iOS. However it does depend on how great your application is. In reality many people build apps and they literally suck and they plan to make $1000's off of them...

Definitely on App Store.
I create apps both for iOS and Android.
The Android apps after 6 months have got no more than 1500 downloads.
The same apps on App Store have got 55000 downloads.
I don't know why, but probably because of the way Android market works (lots of useless apps that are automatically approved, so useful apps are lost between them).
I am already thinking about not renewing my Android developer account, there is no point developing apps for Android unless Google changes the way Android market works.

I'd say the Mac App Store, but then again, my app was featured there

I would recommend you to publish your app on Apple Store. Even the Distimo Report for 2011 says that apple store generates four times the revenue of android market.

P.S. I also recently posted an article in my blog about advantages of ios development over android. I dont intend to spam here . Just in case if you are interested.
