Any Devs here who is also an artist? Want some advice.
Hi,
I am starting to design my 3rd game now. So far I am doing my own graphics using mouse. I am thinking to buy a Wacom tablet+pen, but I'd like to know what you think of it, or if there are other products that can help drawing in the computer much easier. like, perhaps, specific brand/model of touch monitor, or, other things.

No need for that, a mouse with Photoshop is good.
Believe me.
If you don't want to use so much for design, then download Gimp.
I feel a lot easier to draw with my pencil and a sketchpad. Especially when it comes to characters.
So what did you decide in the end?
I am also looking into a tablet, but think I may just try a cheapo Genius one first....then see if it helps in anyway.
I am bad at photoshop anyway.....and drawing too....anything would help me.

I haven't bought a tablet, but really want one. Right now, i am still drawing on paper and scan it, and then tracing it with my graphics editor. slow, but works ok so far.

OK. Well I have been practicing with inkscape and have decided I am now ready to jump into the tablet. I shall buy the cheapest out there, and if I am still hopeless at least the kids can have it. Will let you know how it goes!
there is no substitute for a Wacom. yes a mouse will work but its like trying to draw with your shoe. if you do get one give it some time as it can take some getting used to. I wouldn't recommend any other cheaper brands either. the smallest Wacom is as cheap as I'd go.

What about using a stylus and an iPad drawing app? I tried using a Wacom (smallest one probably) 5 or 10 years ago and I really disliked it... maybe I did not have it set up right, but it was very difficult mapping your drawing motions on the pad to what appears on the screen (or maybe I'm slightly spacialy handicapped ). Assuming you already have an iPad I would think this would be cheaper and more useful than a Wacom. Anyone want to try and convince me why a Wacom would be better?

If you're going to spend the money for a tablet, do it right. Wacom makes the best tablets and they have plenty of models to choose from. Some are fairly inexpensive.

I have not found the Wacom here, but will have a closer look and see prices online.

I think a digital tablet would be ideal for someone who has many years of experience in pencil
drawing and sketching. Just an extension of something you have already learned.
But, if you don't create art by sketching, then a tablet would be of no use to you and a
waste of money. For someone who has no experience in sketching, it would be no better than a mouse.
