I wonder if this could be possible. I have a Audi A6 that i can connect my iPhone to and browse and play music through the dock connector.
I would like to make a program that fools the car that it is "talking" to the iPod app, but instead it talks to my app. That way i could make it possible to play streaming radio through the car system, and controlling what to play with the cars interface. And maybe show info on the car screen about song playing, depending on what info the streaming site has.
As it is now i think it is possible to trick the car to play music from f.ex. Spotify, but you cant interact with Spotify from the car controls. You need to use the iPhone to change song or playlist.
Do you think this is possible? If so, is it possible with the iOS SDK or do i have to go some other dark path?
But the car would only think it was "talking" to the iPod app? Or am i thinking completely wrong? (Probably=) )
When the car requests a iPod folder list, i give it some other list. When the car selects to play a song i feed it a stream instead of a mp3 song.
I would only pretend to be a iPod app. Dont have to do anything with the car.

Your app need to "overwrite" the iPod APIs, and that is not possible.
