I have had an app rejected for iAP reasons, basically they said that we need iAP for our app that is a portal to a web service because we aren't allowed to link to an outside website to get the user to pay for the subscription.
the fact that i disagree with that completely is beside the point - if i want to be on the app store ill have to jump through the silly Apple hoops.
What really grinds my gears about it though is the fact that there is a very similar app that provides a portal to a similar web service and they don't have iAP but have got onto the app store. Their app has the same functionality and both are for the same sector of business. Both provide the opportunity to create an account from the app, both are subscription based but we have to have iAP and they got through the net without needing iAP.
I really wouldn't mind but if they are going to be so strict on accepting apps and enforcing their rules and guidelines then really they should be 100% fair on all apps and use the same rules/guidelines to review all apps by. As surely by precedent i should have my app accepted because this other app is there.
Is it just a fact of life that the review team don't care about what their job is and how they should be executing it? Is it just another place where Apple is becoming just ANOther MNC that doesn't actually care about the products that the produce and the customer base that they have - despite what they try and make us think. Or am i completely out of order in thinking that they have different standards based on who/what they are dealing with or who is on the other end of the contact point just not caring.
IMPO Apple is loosing touch with who and what they are and have been for some time now, products are no longer 100% solid, there is little to no innovation coming out of the company anymore and the customer service is becoming about as good as the service that one would receive in PCWorld (a.k.a awful.) Am i alone here or are other people starting to think the same things?
How old is the app? Apple only started pushing IAP I think a year or less ago. The next time they update, Apple will probably notice that they are going behind their back with a paid purchase and they aren't getting their cut.
