It's good, but I'm not sure if it is that good. I have it because it came with the iMac. If I had to buy a mouse (without money to throw around) I wouldn't go for it. It's also not very ergonomic, and it eats batteries like crazy so you'll need rechargeable ones.

yes it does seem a bit too flat for a mouse, is it annoying to use?
and i thought it comes with rechargeable batteries?
I bought one, used it for about an hour and went back to using my Microsoft ARC mouse - as it actually fits ergonomically into my hand (the 'Magic Mouse' gave me cramps right off the bat). IMHO, Apple has never, ever, been able to make a decent mouse.
And don't get me going on the topic of Apple 'keyboards'...
The good thing is the multi touch surface which allows you to programme a lot of gestures. For example I have two finger swipes left/right switch desktops, tri finger click shows the desktop and so on. The design is visually pleasing but not for prolonged use. My hand does cramp with it. It doesn't come with rechargeable batteries, and don't make the same mistake as me and buy the Apple charger and batteries, they are pretty weak. You can buy better ones (with much higher capacity) and cheaper elsewhere. You're probably better off with the TrackPad and some other/cheaper mouse.
I find the battery life greatly improves if you switch it off when you're not using it (obvious I know). Can't remember the last time I changed the batteries and I use it for work 9-5. Like others have said, the programmable touch surface is great. It is actually using the Trackpad API for this so many apps can be downloaded that can let you use the mouse as a trackpad or for better gestures. Great for browsing safari as the double swipe nav controls and the single hold scroll controls really make for a great experience, imo.
Note, I have the trackpad also and it is good although the click is a bit annoying (but I usually set it to tap only).
