Default Developed Apps only in App-Store

Hi,

I'm new in developping for iOS. Actually we are going to develop an App for a customer (probably using the new features in Adobe CS5.5, so using Adobe Air on an iPad). As I still have no experience in iOS development I have some questions:
  • Will apps only be able to be downloaded via the App-Store?
  • Is there a possibility to test drive an App on the device prior to upload it on the app store?

I would appreciate any answers.

Thanks in advance

Bö.

These are the answers to the following questions you had.
  • First Answer:So far, applications are only available to download via 1 reliable source which is the Apple iTunes iOS Application Store. That is where most people that have an iPod/iPhone/iPad download their applications for their iDevice. You can also publish your application via a jailbreak application store called "cydia",but I wouldn't recommend selling your app there if you plan on making some good money on your application.People publish their applications on the cydia jailbreak application store to either perform a major iDevice modification or to download applications that apple won't allow on their application store. In short, applications for the iPhone are only downloadable via an application hub.

  • Second Answer:Yes,you can test your application on your iDevice before publishing it via X-Code,but you must enroll in the apple developer program first.

Good Luck!
