HemiMG is on a distinguished road
Default I want to share a podcast

What's up dudes?
I guess this is the best forum for this. It could be considered shameless advertising, but it's not my product, so probably not.

Anyhow, here in the Hampton Roads area, we had a super sweet talk radio show by the name of The Mike and Bob Show. They were great enough to come close to getting a syndication deal. However the new radio rating system by Arbitron gives the 'sample' group a device which picks up which radio signals they are listening too. Which clearly bombs out talk radio. If I work in a doctors office, it picks up 8 hours of musak as MY listening preference. So the Mike and Bob show went from being the highest rated show in our area, to the lowest. And they got canned. Conan O'Brien style.

Mike got moved to another station, an AM station at that. Bob got severance pay. Being jobless, and loving to entertain, Bob, along with two other past members of the show started a podcast called Bob's Boneyard. They are on iTunes as Bob's Boneyard, the website is Bob's Boneyard.

Now, these guys are very much NSFW. But they are very much geeky. Star Wars fans, comic book fans (in fact Bob Fresh has his own comic book out called '41', so support the poor jobless dude.) Not to stereotype, but I think most coders have a lot in common with these dudes and will enjoy the show.

There are a lot of semi-inside jokes from the radio show days, but those are minimal. It is best however, if you listen to all the podcasts from the beginning. The first one wasn't the greatest quality because these dudes are jockeys and sidekicks, not producers, but it gets better.

At this point, even the dudes aren't getting paid for their podcast. They just do it for the fans, and because it's what they love to do. And that is what makes them great. But again, Not Safe For Work!
