Anyone in the UK watch The Apprentice tonight? The task was to design Apps (for Android I think) and both teams didn't exactly do great! The Apps they made were worse than mine! (Which is quite difficult!)
Just watched it! *Apps were for blackberry. I think that the reason behind the girls team winning was the fact that they got reviewed/advertised on Wired, one of the biggest technology magazines worldwide.

The programmers/coders for one of the project was using Javascript. I would assume (based off the 24 hour delivery) that as they were both soundboards that they used HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript/Jquery. I couldn't tell whether they used data storage.
They were using Blackberry's, but there were a few Androids.
There was an Apple iPhone type device, but I do not think their apps were for that because they had 24 hours to deliver/publish the app and the approval process would not have lend itself to the challenge.
I do not think the episode really explained the difficulties of an app business model, etc. Sir Alan seemed to imply you get an idea, market it and it'll work; and its highly approachable/easily enterable for any business person.
When in reality, that's not the case; you need start up cash to help fund the marketing. No one-man band is going to be able to afford to give 500+ people free donuts as one of the teams were doing; especially if they've coded the project themselves (which none of the teams were doing).
They were making apps for downloads, rather than specifically setting up an app business model.
Sir Alan asked the boys what their business model was, but he never asked the girls; I assume the business model thing had very little to do with the challenge.
I thought it the episode was okay, but I still don't think it covered the realities of developing/deploying to any app store.
Even if Apple HAD fasttracked them, I think the 'limited functionality' boilerplate would have been coming both their ways
I thought the boys idea was decent, it was just unfortunate only the British people would be interested in it! But yea, the girls attempt was terrible!
