MacBook Pro and a Bottle of Beer!!

Yesterday 06 May 2010 at 5:15pm after just six days of owning a brand new MacBook Pro I killed it!

After a week of intensive learning not only about the MacBook but also the iPhone App Development processes I cracked open a bottle of well deserved (in my opinion) Leffe Blonde (6.6%). Seconds later I had knocked it onto the keyboard of my MacBook. It seemed an age as I looked on in horror at the beer floating on the keyboard and 'slowly' soaking into the keyboard.

OK the great guys at the Apple Store replaced my MacBook yesterday and Im back in business. Fantastic service from the local store manager and Apple.

Ok please excuse this but... WTF no F****** way those B*******, ********************************* ARHH.

OK over. How on earth did you manage to get them to just replace your MBP after you spilt Beer on it? Accidents arent covered in the warranty and i didnt think you could get insurance from Apple that covered this (not ever bought laptop applecare) so there must be something sinister going on here... lol.

Seriously though grats on getting it sorted, Apple stores and "Liquid" damage dont have the best of reputations (though iPhone wise i agree with Apple all this - "It hasnt been in water or even near any rain at all..." from a guy in England in winter (for those who dont know that means 24/7 rain!))

You are absolutely right the warranty doesn't cover stupid things like spilling your beer. He did however replace it. The credit goes to the store manager who has the authority to do this when he thinks it warrants it and he thinks it is a special case. I of course didnt ask him too much why he thought I was a special case in case he changed his mind.

But hey it was my first Mac I had it 6 days and then I killed it, maybe he felt sorry for me, either way outstanding Customer Service I'm sure you will agree.

Yeah, very very good service - restores a little of my waning faith in the Apple retail stores, i find these days that (in the uk near me at least) the staff in the stores are sub-par. i.e. Geniuses that dont know how to change the RAM on a G4 iBook (hint guys its under the keyboard...), specialists that cant explain the differences between an iPod touch and an iPad beyond what the little card says (yes that is what i expect in PCWorld).
