Dear Young Developers(ages 15 or less)
I hate you for the following reasons:
1)You put your age in your app description.
2)Many apps I've seen are (how should I put this...) either too basic(soundboards and fart buttons to name some) or they aren't unique(MORE soundboards, quiz(not all, but most), prank stuff, etc)
3)You have little respect for copyright.
I know that some of you don't meet these qualifications, but I'm seeing too many crapps with the "Developed by a _____ year old". To those of you who don't meet these, thank you.
Rhade, I think you should change the name to whiny bitch now.

Due note, you are being extremely stereotypical with this post. I myself am 15 years old and I currently work full time on iOS and PHP development (specifically subcontracting for businesses). I have a few applications on the App Store which are created with the exact care and ability as most professional developers. All art work has been created by myself on Photoshop, all code handwritten on XCode/Dreamweaver, and every bit as debugged as your applications. Your post really pertains to only a small fraction of young developers (Willevansapps, etc.) and generalizing that all "young" developers are infantile and juvenile is completely wrong. Everyone has to start somewhere. I admit to formerly being one of those people with the "just give me the code" mentality but I have gladly grown out of that phase.
When you look at it, schools offer absolute **** to anyone wanting to become a programmer. The only way for most kids to learn these subjects is through the internet. Kids are just kids. Perhaps need a little more patience needs to be allotted towards them if trying to guide them through an issue. It is true that they may want to brag about their age and iPhone development... but it is just natural. Let's face it - most kids are "attention whores."
I am 15, I can gladly answer "No" to every one of your statements.
And? I've seen descs point out how they were developed by libertarians (Cato Institute), by doctors (Mayo Clinic Medication), etc. They're attempting to establish bonafides or market to a particular segment. Maybe minors think their age is a selling point, maybe they're going for the grandma pity buy. Maybe we're ALL just gonna get a cruel lesson in marketing.

And you want to be the one making prank fart sound board quizzes? j/k!
Who cares? It's not the Android free-for-all, but it ain't Saks Fifth Ave either. Let the market decide. Or complain to Apple - if there's a groundswell of opinion against fart apps, Apple could shut them down in a heartbeat.
Besides, I've got 3 apps in the store and NONE of them are original. A fourth is coming - and it's not original either. These days, when a fax machine is just a waffle iron with a phone attached to it, how is the average dev going to be original anyway?

Adults ain't any better. Go work in a large office with a number of developers. Piracy is endemic. Kids do what grown-ups do, not what grown-ups say
I think people are misunderstanding the OP. Regardless, the app store has it's own law of nature and everyone just needs to accept it as it is and move on.
Ignore competition
Acquire currency

I admire you kids. You are programming and actually doing something productive on early stages of your life. That is something we all should congratulate.

1. Totally agree. Try to make a good product instead. Anyway, I think the market is smart enough to decide by itself and I think reading on the description that the game was developed by a ___ years old doesn't affect the buying decision from any potential customer.
2. Adults have published those apps too.
3. Take a look at this very forum, on the "Business, Legal and App Store" section. You'll find many, many posts talking about copyrights infringements. All of them from adults too. Achiles Defense is my favorite.

Young developers sometimes will put their age on there to get some sympathy downloads. While the majority won't care whether the app is developed by a 15 year old or an 80 year old, some do. Really I see the whole developed by a xxx year old as a marketing tool.
Hate is a strong word. If you hate every 15 year old or younger, then you have some real hatred issues.

By all means go ahead and put your age, I don't care. There is no law against it.

They are also many bad apps out there made by people who are over 15, and some soundboards and stuff actually make some good $$$. Don't be hating on young people because they are young, there are many things you could be doing with your time other than hating.

for 1 and 3 i would like to say i dont think kids should program apps at a young age. i personally think 18 is a great age for kids/ teenagers to become developers under their name if they are still interested in it at that age.
i'm 19 turning 20 and i thought about being a developer for a long time but i never sat down and did it until i became legal enough to sign the contracts myself and say i am responsible for my own app because i don't wanna put someone else's name on my work or get them in trouble. Copyright is broken a lot but i believe adults have a much better understanding of copyrights then kids.
i will admit some of you guys create great apps, i do however think with young age comes without thinking of how serious of work this really is.
most of us here do 8 hours or more a day in xcode or any other program to work on programming and we kinda get mad at when someone who is 13 or what ever age comes in and publishes a app that he can go to his friends and say oh i did this im so cool.
theres my rant for the day. (5 energy drinks = what just got said )
Really? Don't program because you don't understand copyright laws completely? I think everyone 10 and up understands that copying/using someone else's work like using copyrighted images is bad and will not be tolerated. I encourage all young developers to keep at what they are doing. Also, who cares if the name on the app store is your parents name? Everyone you know would know that you coded the application. If a blog picks it up and contacts you, they'd know you coded it, not your parents. Anyone that actually cares who made the app would eventually find it out it was you who made the app.
For your last point, do you mean that adults (18+) can make stunning apps and get not recognition for it while young developer (0-17) can create mediocre apps and get tons of praise for it?
Just FYI, not trying to make you mad or anything, just stating my opinion.
Domele is on the right lines there AManEatMyiPhone. I work 8 hours a day at xcode and it doesnt annoy m in the slightest that a 14 year old kid can put out a best seller. In fact i think it is one of the best things about iPhone development - anyone on this planet (with access to the right resources of course) can develop an app.
And just because they can put an app on the app store doesnt make it a good app. Despite the "Rules and Regs" of the app store i still see a few awful tutorial type apps on the store, not saying they are from kid developers but they are there.
If you are young and developing carry on you are doing good wok!
Plus it keeps them off the streets breaking things haha!
Actually I admire the younger programmers who are able to conceive of something simple like a soundboard and get it into the app store, its a great way of getting experience and its not too taxing/complicated and it adds to your portfolio.
I can only wish of doing simplier apps rather than the complex ones I am doing now; but that's only because I have a vision/idea of what I want and I finally got the gumption to do it.
People need to adopt this for everything in the world these days. A youtube video for example - take AtheneWins (does funny comedy based on WoW and now more general computer games) All his videos are are him and his mates having a laugh and joking around, but read the comments: i.e. THIS GUY SUX, or What sort of G*y s*** has this p**** put on youtube - i want my 10 mins of my life back NOW!!!!
Fair enough on the first video, you dont know what it is so have a watch, dont like it so comment. But then why continue to go back as watch all his other videos if you hate the guy and his "show"? - If you dont like it dont watch it!
Just because the internet allows us to speak to anyone about anything doesnt mean we need to wade into every situation and flame the crap out of people (you apple fan boys (yes im one too) will know exactly what i mean!).
so best advise for the internet ever thought of by anyone is this: If you dont like something then move on and ignore it - you can get along and never hear about it again so it wont bother you anymore and you wont bother them anymore - a win win!
1)You put your age in your app description.

You're judging every developer, 15 or under, based off other developers? That's like seeing a African America dealing marijuana, and claiming every African American is a drug-dealer. The world doesn't work that way.
1. Many young developers put their age in their app description to "show off" or to get symphony. "A 13 year old made this app, I'm going to purchase it." I highly support you here; I don't like it when people do this, either. But I wouldn't hate all young developers because another young developer did it. Hell, I don't hate people who put their age in their app description. I just believe it's wrong. Everyone, no matter how young or old, should have an equal opportunity to do anything. Don't praise someone on their age, praise them on what they done!
2. Many young developers do indeed create simple Apps. Most Apps on the App Store are "simple". But you should never dislike young developers because of this. Just because most young developers cannot create an advanced app does NOT mean all of them can't.
3. I can guarantee you that almost every young developer who has ever received a copyright notice did NOT know what they were doing was illegal. It's not like young developers go "IMMA COPY ALL THE INFO ON THIS SITE, PUT IT IN A SIMPLE APP, AND SELL IT!". Would you hate a 6 year old because he doesn't know how to spell a word? Why would you hate young developers because they were not informed about copyright content? Hell, everyone makes mistakes. You shouldn't hate people for it, instead, you should try to keep them going.
I, myself, are 14 and are developing an App. A completely free App, that is. I have loved computers since I was 9. When I was 12, I started a web hosting business. I continued running this web hosting business for 6 months, where I sold it when I was 13. I sold it because it was too much work; I had over 200 customers to support, 4 servers to maintain, while still having school in the way. I made $15k total, and no one ever knew I was 12-13.
You should never, ever, judge someone by their age.
If i hated young developers, that would be a no 1 reason!
I think if a person is wise enough to actually make something at the age of 15, he will succeed in it, unless he's trying to show off.
At 12 years old, I created my first website: my elementary school's website. I knew very little about html itself (basic stuff, framesets [you remember these? what a mess!], etc., made almost everything wysiwig, in Netscape Composer), absolutely nothing about javascript nor css (actually, it pretty much didn't existed yet).
Most people are impressed by this kind of things. Yet, nothing comparable with dealing with memory issues, maintaining the model-view-controller paradigm when coding, managing threads, marketing, etc.
Seriously: way to go kids. I'll hire you when you're a little older, no problem there. Will I buy your first app? Probably not. A commercial failure at your age is, by itself, an accomplishment.
Hi ,
I'm a 14 year old developer and I never put my age on the description and my apps are not farts app at all.
You sould maybe take a look and revoke your words : Connecting to the iTunes Store.
Thanks !
PS : Source code are for sale PM me for more information...
He's just jealous that his job was taken over and made better by people twice as young as him.
He's also just jealous that when he was our age he did nothing productive and wasted him time, yes I may not be as smart as some of you but I'm learning
