I'm in the midst of overhauling the interface of my main app (SpinArt). It's long overdue.
After reading about some good experiences with 99designs, I decided to give it a go. I'm actually pretty happy with the result. I got 139 entries ranging from complete crap to interesting to great. There were probably only about 10 or 15 that I would consider as possibilities, but I also narrowed it down to a few finalists (they are actually all from the same designer). Just curious if anyone has any opinions of the three entries on this page:
#55 is the the front runner, with #57 close behind, and #58 next.
#55 was the first one that blew me away. #57 gives some more hints of motion (a key component of the app), but I'm afraid it will get blurry once it's small.
Anyway, just curious if anyone else has opinions before I commit to a winner.
Here's why. The size of the swirls is the largest on #58. This will translate the best to a smaller icon. Also, it is more colorful, drawing the eye. #55 is second best, although the swirls are smaller and you my not be able to differentiate between them at 114x114. Last is #57, I don't think it will translate well smaller.
Good luck.

I would definitely pick #58 because it seems to be painted in watercolors and I think that suits better with your current artwork.
And even I can get more illusion of motion from the #57, #58 makes me feel it pretty similar.
Thanks for all the feedback! Looks like it's mostly split (maybe a skewing towards #58).
Despite that, I may still go with #55--I showed the options to a friend last night and his initial reaction to #58 was "oh a lollipop!" I thought that a bit too initially--it's too candy-ish. Dunno.
Thanks again all!
@soxfan492 : I offered $450--which is split between the designer and 99designs. This designer has a lot of great designs and his portfolio on his website looks good--so I may contact him afterwards an get more of his help.
I have not used 99designs yet, but I thought the had a 3-tier pricing gold, silver, bronze..just curious as to why you chose to offer more money than the highest tier (gold) costs ?

Not really sure how this relates to business, legal, or the app store. Moving...
Oops, sorry. I actually even considered that for a moment but there have been a bunch of these in that forum lately so I figured it was as good as any.
