What is your profession?
So i was just wondering what do you app developers do for a profession? Is it actually developing apps or are you in some other industry and developing apps on the side?
Personally i'm a student studying Computer Games Design, but i hope to be a full time app developer by the time this course is done.

Some C, some proprietary - mostly. You (or your employer more-than-likely) will be paying big $$$ for crappy SDKs.
I think XBox may be a lot of C++. There seem to be a lot of DirectX calls (although technically you can do that with C too).
You might want to type "EA sweatshop" into Google before you embark on your career
I've confirmed some of the stories (one of the graphics guys at my last post had worked for EA in Orlando) ... I think I'd rather sell a kidney than work there.
And, to answer the topic question, current profession is "independent developer". I'd started by writing code in telecom, moved to the financial sector, got laid off, and decided to go rogue

For the sake of the question as well as the online forms I've seen on other web sites I'd say yes it is.
I'm a university student.

I have a regular full time job on the side, but I also freelance--which is what I ultimately would like to do for my career and profession.
