Career choice in being a Developer

hey guys i am looking to become a developer as a main job for a big company like for example: microsoft, apple, ebay, google. or who ever lol.
what career would be the best?

Software Engineering Technology,
Software Development Technology,

In any development job, you're going to have some tough competition...specifically, offshore.

Most companies will outsource 50% or more of their IT to places like India and China. Companies think their saving money because of the cheap labor but the code usually comes back poorly written.

I'm not sure I'd suggest my children become software developers.

haha...you may get lucky

Developer really crosses all of those categories you have listed.

True there is competition but there is competition no matter what field your in so oh well. And thank you for your feedback. I have set a meeting up to go over all those programs with one of the guys at the school. So hopefully that will help me but please all still vote and pUt your input.

Sure, I'll vote...could you define what each of them mean? I would consider the 2nd and 4th to be the same thing but I'm interested in seeing your school's definitions.

There is a much bigger question to ask: As each of these are slightly different and deal with varying aspects of the software development lifecycle they all will have slightly different requirements. go and have a look at some of the software Corporate jobs that Apple posts up and see what they are asking for in each of them. Then the major question becomes this: Do you have the qualifications for the job that you are applying for?
