Looking to learn about developing apps, any good reads?

Hi,

New here I am a web designer and I want to learn to develop basic iphone apps. Are there any good links that go over the basics of what I need etc? Or any must reads period, or great tutorials to start from the basics?

I have signed up as a developer on apple, and downloaded the SDK.

I wanted to know if there are any tools or software that makes developing basic apps easier, or even templates or anything like that? Or is everything done always from scratch?
