Default Add background image to Nav Bar

I would like to customize the Navigational Bar by adding my own background image, and also by changing the background image on the navigational bar buttons. I am wondering how I would do this?

I am new to Objective C, and so I did some research. I was looking around and I am wondering if I need to use the UINavigationBar library?

Here is a link to further explain myself: http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/ip...ation-bar.html
