Default The App Show: A new partner of iPhone Dev SDK!

I'm very happy to announce the latest partnership for iPhone Dev SDK! We've partnered with our friends over at The App Show. The App Show is a podcast that shines a light on the iPhone 2.0 software and the applications being developed by the amazing development community for the iPhone SDK. I highly recommend adding them to your iTunes lineup!

That's awesome. Steve and Dave are good guys (and I'm not just saying that because they gave me a good review :P). What do you envision this partnership bringing to both The App Show and the site? Are you guys going to collaborate on reviews and such or are you just looking to cross-promote?

I think the relationship will be majorly beneficial to both of us.

I think The App Show will gain a large number of subscribers that may not have found their show as quickly as they have with the partnership in place.

For iPhone Dev SDK, I think the members of the community will gain by having the relationship with the show. The App Show is an excellent medium to continue to grow the iPhone application ecosystem at a grassroots level. Yes, Apple makes the wheel turn, but the real power of the platform is the developer community that is continuously growing. This community's members are the ones who fuel that ecosystem. So by the two working together, it can do nothing but grow the ecosystem in a positive manner.

Smile Partnership

I second what Chris said. While The App Show will benefit from the larger subscriber base, so will the developers here.

Steve Jobs pointed out that having the icon for the App Store on every iPhone and iPod touch will give all developers a front row level of exposure to the potential customer. While this is very true when compared to other models, it's starting to mean less as more and more apps are released to the store competing for the same space.

Right now, there are over 8 different voice recording apps, 7 competing list managers, and a multitude of options for just about every other category imaginable ... and this is just the beginning. We hope to be one way for consumers to see what's different between these options and hear from the developers who are creating them.

So, to answer your question ... everyone wins. We get increased subscribers, the developers gain another way to be seen, and the customers get to see the differences without buying all of the apps of a particular category.

Dave and I have a passion for the iPhone apps and I think that's evident in our shows. We love what you're doing here and hope that we can help you stay motivated and keep cranking out those awesome apps!!!

Thank you,

Steve Bostedor

Well i listened to all the podcasts so far and i subscribed. it's an enjoyable show. as a dev it's great to hear other devs sharing their experiences. and the topic range is really good, they touch on a lot of relevant issues that draw a lot of interest for me. and i really enjoy the two hosts as you can tell they're enjoying what they're doing.
with the growing congestion of the app store, there definitely needs to be more internet outlets for discussing & highlighting apps. there will definitely be a lot of buried gems that can only get showcased this way.
