Default Installing a iPhone app in iTunes apps programmatically

Hi All..

Can any one help here ..... I need to install the a iPhone app(ipa file) in iTunes Apps programmatically , I mean if I download ipa file it should directly install in iTunes other that downloading machine and agian drag and drop in iTunes.....

OfCourse all the applications in Itunes Apps are stored in a Path on Mac .... I thought If I write my ipa file directly at that path automatically it will appear in Itunes....

But when I manually pasted a file at path its not appearing in iTunes ... Is there any other way for this ...?

Thanks,
Rambo ...

HI Gweetle,

I am not talking about jailbroken stuff...

Normally if we want to install the iPhone application on device , we will drop the ipa file onto iTunes and then after we will sync the device then the app get install on the device.

So to reduce the step of( Drag and drop) ... I will keep my ipa file on a website then if any user get download the app it should directly install on iTunes. (So then to install my app on device .. just user will click on ipa file link on web and will sync the device thats it).

Actually this can we do by forcefully write the ipa file on to path where iTunes app store on Client machine.

But ofCourse this kind of implementation is not a good way as we need to access the client machine and im not sure the possibility of doing like this.

I don't think you can install ipa files on a non jailbroken devices without having them downloaded from iTunes or the device's app store. If you want to prove me wrong, show me a link to an ipa and I'll try to install it.

You can install the ipa from iTunes by dragging the ipa to the library and then syncing your device, but you also need to drag the provisioning profile onto iTunes. That is how you can send copies of your app to beta testers that don't have xcode installed.

As far as doing it programmaticly, it won't work just copying the file to the correct location in the file system, you would also need to update the iTunes xml library files, I'm not sure if those files are allowed to be modified outside of iTunes or not, you would have to do some research on that.
