Is it possible create a custom SplitViewController????

Hi everybody.... The first thing "sorry for my terrible english".....

I´m newbie with the objective-c and I´m trying to do a application that show a coverflow in the top and a splitview in the botton like this....

When I open the file "MainWindow.xib" in my project with de IB appears this windows "imagen2 and imagen3". The SplitViewControl has two differents zones

Is it possible two change the height and the width for every zone ??? I´ve seen in the IB that it´s not possible. And is it possible add other zone ????

I´ve not idea how it is possible make custom view that later are control with a controller.....

My intention is do something like this application,

Supermercado El Corte Ingles para iPad para iPad en la App Store de iTunes

I´ve various doubts about this application how it is possible integrate a coverflow in the same view with others components. I´ve found in internet how to do the coverflow but for all the view. Second this application has tabs in both sides of the coverflow, how is it possible do this kind of controls ??????

Any idea ????? Any example ?????
