think its called iDeneb, but you have to have an intel processor, and even if you do, there is little chance that you will get to execute your project. I have read of people having problems with build and go. google has all the info you need.

I have mac os 10.6.3 setup in a virtual machine and it works perfect with xcode:

I also have it installed on a Dell 1545 laptop which has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which also works fine.

You'll find a lot more hardware has been made compatible recently, so in my opinion it is worth a shot to save you the cash on buying a Mac.

Might want to check out this link. Your better off dual booting that using a VM if you want speed and the most compatibility.

Default I have an older optiplex running OSx

I am running OSx on a Dell Optiplex (made for XP) and its running fine (minus sound). That was a simple fix with after market speakers.
You may consider doing a Google search for "HACKINTOSH" and see what is out there now.
If you attempt to do this, Make sure you save all your data. You will have to wipe and reformat your HDD to the Mac version (so you loose everything). Just a FYI.

Cheers and best of luck. Let us know if you have success.
