My new book should be out in 3 weeks or so...It is "point here click there" in the style of "old school" visual basic books. Because I was late to the dinner table, I didn't have to start writing before the SDK had Interface Builder...
Anyways, these tutorials match the book's Try This examples. And if you think this is shameless spam...just realize I will probably make less than a kid working at Burger King from the book sales, I truly did it cause I like iPhone development.
The tutorials have no sound, with the exception of the first one, but they match the book's steps and they are all free of charge...
Yes, I realize only "tools" register their name as a domain name, but give a 40 year old a break...this is my mid-life crisis, I do not want to spend all my life as a J2EE/SOA/Web Services Wonk for the government...
I am now writing a *true* beginner's book on Objective-C...i.e. "this is a variable, this is a for loop" beginner's book. As I have time I will update the content. I will be posting my experiences porting my iNtervalTrack App to Java JME for Symbian...after all, most the world uses Nokias!
If you like the content, click one of my ads, I get paid a few cents if you do...same with this forum, click the dude's adds!!
As a long time Delphi dev. I have done a couple of small projects now and still getting to grips with the quirkiness of ObjC and your videos will be a great help in conjunction with the iphone dev books I'm working through.
I'm new to the whole iPhone development scene and would like to thank you for posting this! I watched part of the first video and plan on watching the entire series.
I spent a lot of time at the bookstore reading through the other books available on SDK. I bought your book. It looks to be a great resource, and the videos only seal the deal.

Thanks. I appreciate it. If you have any questions, so far I've answered every one, even the one where the guy cursed me out for not having sound in the videos.
The next book, an intro Objective-C book, will have sound for the videos.
You might want to refer to this site for Objective-C if you have never seen the language before (no I'm not affiliated with the site).
Thanks for posting your code from the book
With the ATimer project, how do you display the elapsed or remaining time in the window like is done with the countdown Timer app on the iPhone.

This book will be perfect, there are ALOT of iPhone dev books, and the only one I have found that at least teaches the fundamentals, though not in depth, is the Sams Teach Yourself iPhone Developement. But, most books say beginner, then you read the first few chapters and it basically wants you to have C knowledge, and the book even says "You'll remember this from C..."
Being a new developer myself I had a real hard time to find good books and tutorials. Almost every book and video tutorial expects you to have C or Java knowledge. I started to learn ObjC aprox two weeks ago with some C "Hello world" knowledge and it took a lot of time to get started, i sat about 14+hrs/day with video tutorials and books the first fiew days.
This would've been of great help if I'd known about it. But that's life.
Thanks for the video. I've bought numerous tutorial books and being a visual person, its hard for me to learn. I'm hoping these videos would help me as i am very excited to start programming.
Thanks for writing a true beginners book on Objective C. It's so frustrating searching for tutorials, only to be told you need previous knowledge. I'm sure there are plenty of people wanting to start coding for this device but are coming up against brick walls.
Will someone please do some tutorials on AV Audio
This seems to be a area that is either not really cared about or of a great secret and no one seems to want to talk about this area of the SDK
I have been all over Apples site looking for some good info on the AV framework and there seems to be little. I am an internet radio and stream hosting company and want to be able to do some stuff like add generation from our stream ads and other ideas we have
I really appreciated your collection of tutorials... Many of theme helped me a lot! Thanks!
Thanks, remember, many of them are outdated. Expect all of them, with sound, to be redone soon. Many of them will be totally overhauled to show things that I've picked up now that I've been working full-time as a mobile developer, rather than a J2EE Architect/Senior-Developer by day and a iPhone Coder by night....even at 1.99 app store consumers expect that stuff to be edited! Suppose they are right.
Also, based on the horrendous reviews on the App Store of my Objective-C Videos (unedited, crappy mic, etc)...I actually invested in software and semi-pro equipment to record the videos and audio. The video tutorials are rock solid IMHO...I just didn't edit out coughs, umms, kids, air-conditioner....etc.
But I'm kinda tied up for the next month working on some exercise software, so it's not going to be until December or so for the new videos.
Ok I'm waiting the new exercises
However if I advise you, I hope to fine some more information about in app settings without using a settings.bundle for put some settings directly in a view of the app...
Thanks

A new version of the book, and these tutorials are coming out within a couple months. There have been many changes since then. I'll be taking all these tutorials down once the new ones are out.

This is what I've looked for.
I'm a C#-coder, but I always was interested in smart phone apps.
In the company I'm working I will start coding iPhone-Apps for the first time.
Your site will help me a lot.
Thank you!!!
PS: I'm going to click your ads many times, ok.
This will be my way to say thank you!
I wish you success with your book.
I'll look for that.
