Which iOS device (only for development)?

Hi,

I am preparing me for ios apps development (with phonegap).

I have a mac and a dev account is no prob.

But I haven't any device. I need the iOS device ONLY for development, so the Iphone 4 is to expensive for me (only to TRY developing ios apps).

Thats why my question:

Which is generally the recommended development device (iPhone4?) and which in my point of view (3G, iPod touch)?

What are the advantages and disadvantages between iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch concerning development (with phonegap)?

Can a friend of mine test (only) on his device?

i would say if you have the budget, go for a device without retina display (iPod touch 3g) and another with retina display (iPhone 4)

however, if you want to use your friend's device to test, it is also totally possible.

You just need to set the device up and give it a profile using XCode 4's organizer
