Need help with Storyboard

I cannot seem to add a top navigation bar to my view controllers in story board. I'll pick a navigation bar as the kind of top bar I want from the utilities area and it'll show up inside the controller's view on the canvas in the interface builder but then it won't show up in the controller when I build and run.

Try using a Navigation Controller instead of just a View Controller.
