Custom Ad's in your app?

Hi everyone,

I looked through the forums titles and thoughts this may be the most appropriate.

I have an app on the app store and it's racked up a nice little 13,500 downloads. it's a GPS venue location app and we have around 5000 uses a month (2500 are unique).

I have searched pretty much high and low (when I can on lunch breaks

and haven't found a solid answer to this.

I would now like to add advertising to the app and offer this to the venue owners that come up in the app gps venue results. Can I do this according to apple's terms? I would like to serve the ads from our own server. I thought of using house ads through adwhirl, but realized that these will only used in back filling. I want to do offer and sell custom ads from our our server to our venue clients and not through iads/admob/modclix etc

Anyone know the answer or can offer any advice? Has anyone come up against this hurdle?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I can't quote from the TOS, but as it stands right now, Apple doesn't stop you from running any ads you want. Example, Google ads give nothing to Apple, anyone can serve ads.

Devs run ads for their own apps and web sites...

I'd say just run the ads.

The only thing I can think of is if your app was mainly an ad app, meaning mostly all it did was run ads. I think I heard something about this in the TOS.

Running your own ads would be no different, from Apples viewpoint, then running Google ads.
