Desperately needing help with developer and distribution certificate

I just finished my first app for iphone and have been trying to upload the binary since yesterday morning. I get to know that I need a distribution certificate to build the release version for my app.

Now the problem is that my keychain access.app is not working properly. When I "request a certificate from a certificate authority" I am able to create the "CertificateSigningRequest.certSigningRequest" file but the PROBLEM is no pair of public/private key is generated by the keychain access, thus when I go thru the apple program portal process and finish downloading the certificate, it is not associated with public/private key pair and is unusable

I realize this in a hard way by wanting to start the whole process from scratch by deleting my then functioning developer certificate. Now I can't not even get the developer certificate thanks to the same bug and am not even not able to test my app on my own device now

i might be stating the obvious, but maybe try the following.

- repair disk permissions

try again

- reinstall os x

try again

if keychain access still isn't working properly after all that then i'm all out of idea (beyond a reformat)
