Default Xcode 3.2 install fails after snow leopard upgrade

I upgraded my Macbook Pro running 10.5.8 and Xcode 3.1 to Snow Leopard and then tried to install the new Xcode 3.2 off of the Snow Leopard install disc as well. The installation reported a failure, but I don't know what exactly failed. When I fired up Xcode, it was indeed the new 3.2 version but I'm not sure if something will break eventually.

I then downloaded the latest snow leopard release from the Apple developer site (I think Xcode 3.2.1 with iPhone DevKit 3.1.3) and tried to install that, but the same thing happened.

I did read about some permissions problems and tried to add an Admin with Read/Write access permission to /Library and /Library/Preferences on my system but it apparently did not solve all the problems.

So, I am not confident in my install currently. Does anyone have a similar experience or advice?

Thanks!
Jake

I just did this and had zero issues. Here is what i did:

1) Completely Uninstall XCode (the readme file tells you how)
2) Upgrade to Snow Leopard
3) Download and install XCode for Snow Leopard (I did not install the one on the DVD)

The important point is whenever you upgrade the SDK and XCode, ALWAYS uninstall the old one before installing the new one. This solves almost every problem people have.
