I have developed a OSX tool which can connect to the itunes appstore and fetch the rankings of your app. It is free. If you should have any bugs or problems please leave a comment at “AppRanking for FREE” by Michael Dorn | Dr. Touch
Very cool app, although when you have apps like mine which are never in the top 100 in any category for any region, then just always seeing ">100" has no meaning, except that I am a loser and can't sell any apps.
I hope to hear a little feedback and maybe some new ideas.
Seeing it's free and very useful, it seems cheeky to ask for extra features but as you are asking .... it would be even more excellent if it saved the app number and the selected countries. I'd also like to second the request for a "select all" button.
Version 1 showed lower numbers without a leading zero, which I prefer (eg 12 instead of 012). Will you be reverting to that style?

And thanks again, it is very handy .
Hi,
To select all countries, just click on the header. It is a hidden function due to it can hold up the network traffic in whole a company (I tested it with a 20Mbit line).
The leading "000" format is because of sorting as a string and not a number. I will try and make a change in that. I guess I will try build in a save function during the easter holidays.
I will let you know when the new version is ready.

Thanks for having this great app. Is it possible to have multiple app numbers entered at once and save the output to file. And thanks again for having this great app
Funny, I also downloaded this app yesterday It totally rocks!
(Turns out i'm #1 for free music in Sri Lanka) seriously and I don't even know where Sri Lanka is !@#$%
I also have a couple in the top ten overall free around the world. I would have never known this without your app. Great Work!
I am trying to get Michael (the creator) to rewrite this app as an objC class that we can reuse in desktop and iPhone apps. But currently he'd rather concentrate on LuckyWheel artwork updates and some new projects.
Now, if those people who like it much would donate a couple of dollars then THAT would probably get his attention and show him how much we appreciate his invention.

Maybe he'd just make the source public then? It's really a nice piece of software, but not quite useful as it turned out. It doesn't even save the settings, and I should select the countries and categories every time.
And it really need some way of tracking the evolution of an app. Current place is not as important as a change from yesterday.

Who ever wants to reprogramm AppRanking, can do this with a little search in google. As far as I can see you can you find scripts to show the same what I have got in AppRanking. As written before, I will sit down this week and try make a lot of helpful functions:
save appID with names
search with multi appID
get the sorting into a nice format
save search results by date/time
have a chart view
maybe build a xcode class
You must just be patient. I will send Oliver the new version on Sunday if not ealier. Check out this thread for more information or Dr. Touch for further information.

Modifying the working app is not quite the same as writing it from scratch . What you did in one day will probably require me at least 3-4, and I don't really have time for this.

This sounds awesomely great, these features are about all I need in life right now! I'm happy you didn't abandon it.
great. oh yeah, one note. Make sure don't run it too often in the office.
selecting all countries with 1 category will download at least 60MB. selecting 3 categories will download at least 180MB everytime it run
