Game art and graphics

Hi,

I understand that there are two parts to the game: the coding and the art. (im right so far... right? hopefully :P). I really want the art and graphics to pop out. There's pixel art and vector graphics right? Whats the difference? Also, can I have some examples of each and what apps they're used in?

Finally, the art is created with tablets right? I mean, thats the best way to draw?
